The “Terras” line of wines is made from grapes grown in the Tovuz region of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Located in western Azerbaijan, Tovuz has a long tradition of viticulture.
Various grape varieties have been cultivated here, at the foot of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, since ancient times. The region’s ideal climate for grape cultivation has long favored the development of winemaking.
The arrival of German immigrants here in the 19th century had a significant impact. They contributed significantly to the development of viticulture in the region, utilizing the latest technologies of their time and developing industrial winemaking.
These fine winemaking traditions continued during the Soviet era. Viticulture and winemaking in Tovuz flourished particularly rapidly during the 1970s, right up until the infamous anti-alcohol campaign.
A Tradition That Continues to Flourish
Even during the independence period, the ancient winemaking traditions of the Tovuz region continued to flourish. The grape varieties grown here are rightly considered ideal for producing high-quality wine. Wines made from grapes grown in the Tovuz region are distinguished by their exquisite aroma, subtle flavor, and perfect aftertaste, and are in no way inferior to, and often surpass, many similar imported wines in quality.

The “Terras” line of wines is bottled at the “Tovuz-Baltia” plant located in the Tovuz district.
The wines and cognacs bottled at this plant are renowned for their quality not only in Azerbaijan but also in the CIS and Western Europe.
